I haven’t bought a new, non-OG colorway of the Air Jordan 7 in a long time. These Air Jordan 7 Ray Allen are based on PEs of the VII that Ray Allen wore, with significant changes to the materials.
The shoes feature Ray Allen’s signature on the insole.
You can treat these like any other black shoe and wear with an all black outfit for an easy look. You can also pair these up with khaki, grey or other light wash denim to keep a clean look. I’d pair that up with a grey or black top depending on what pants you chose. Overall, playing off the black and grey will be easier than trying to match up the purple or green on the shoe.
Overall, I’m glad I picked these up. At the time of release, people seem to be sleeping on these, but they could become sought after eventually. I plan on hanging onto my pair for a while at least. I think the colorway is unique for a Jordan retro and the shoe itself is low key with just enough flair to keep it interesting.
How Are The Materials?
The materials are similar to the 2019 Bred 4s, in that they are entirely nubuck/short haired suede. However, I think the quality on these is slightly better than those. While not amazing, the material quality is satisfactory enough for a GR pair of Air Jordan 7s.
How Do They Fit?
These Air Jordan 7 Ray Allen fit true to size, if not slightly big. I feel like the VII is typically a bit more comfortable than other Air Jordan retros, and provides a bit more room with a slightly wider fit than Jordan 1s or 4s. Also, these have a nice slope to the toebox that makes them look great on foot. The cushioning is nothing amazing, but the extra room makes these comfy to wear for a few hours at a time. I could possibly go down a half size for a snug fit, but I enjoy the feel of the extra room in the AJ7.
